Event Cancellation – Australia Day Barefoot Bowls

After careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel the Australia Day Barefoot Bowls Fundraiser at Leeton & District Bowling Club due to the heat forecast and feedback received based around the event falling on a public holiday affecting registration.

While we were so looking forward to bringing the community together, the safety and wellbeing of attendees, volunteers, and staff must come first. This is particularly important for families with young children and older community members who would be most affected by the extreme heat conditions forecast for Australia Day.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has shown interest and supported the cause. Your enthusiasm and generosity have been truly appreciated. The response from the community has been wonderful, and whilst we’re disappointed to cancel this particular event, we know the support is there for future initiatives.

The combination of public holiday timing and extreme heat made this a difficult but necessary decision. We want our fundraising events to be enjoyable and safe experiences for everyone involved, and the conditions simply weren’t going to allow that this Australia Day.

This is not the end of our fundraising efforts. We have many other events in the pipeline! Keep an eye on our social media and website for announcements about upcoming fundraisers throughout 2026. The community spirit shown for this event will carry forward into future initiatives.
